Everything is wrong with us
And we have a name for it all
And luckily there is always an app, supplement, or lifehack that can fix us, solve us, right our wrongs.
But you gotta have money to play that game and when one game is solved, oh look it's something else new to worry about and internalize.
I am never fixed, I am never whole.
We come up with a new diagnosis everyday, thankfully it's so easy to do with this machine in our hands.
And if it's not a diagnosis, it's some line in the sand that separates us from other people, we love that, we're addicted to that.
It's an exhausting addiction to our "problems" thankfully there is always a company offering it's help.
& They never quite seem to fix us all at once? No, we need some sort of add-on for every ailment, these things work better together.
If any one product solved it all then there's no returning customers.
& The solution they're selling is always right outside of ourselves, never within.
Because having to change and grow from within would mean that the power existed there all along and that's too much to handle when you've been offloading for years.
Standing up in the water vs drowning by waiting on someone to come pull us out.
I go roundabout with my own neurosis and when I'm lucky (practiced) I can catch myself mid-identification with any new problem that seems to be the thing to solve, and I can say - no.
Actually no, the answer is not on the Internet, the answer is not in another person's behavior, the answer is not in a new supplement.
We live our lives as if everything is to be fixed, as if everything can be fixed.
But not everything can be fixed.
People get sick, other people's behavior is out of your control, shit happens on every end of the spectrum of life and guess what??
We will have to accept that.
We will have to live with that.
We will have to move on from that.
The only thing that we can reliably hope for is the internal calm to get through whatever new problem comes our way.
The internal balance to see through the external noise and distraction.
Remember, we're here for a short time, what percentage of your unknown time left do you want to be worrying and stressing about things outside of your control?
And how can you know what is in or out of your control without building the internal calm so that you can actually understand how you feel vs what feelings are being advertised to you?
Put down what's coming at you and understand what's coming from you.
Do this through silence, rest, meditation.
So many people I know are always "busy" and going and never have a moment of peace because it's... uncomfortable to the person who is always stimulated and distracted.
Mediation helps us decipher our daily lives by creating space between what is happening and our physical and emotional reactions to it.
Knowing what WE want is only going to get harder, advertising is only going to get more aggressive (because it w
orks).
The time to reclaim your internal space is now.
I'm still working on it TBH but better to be working towards internal calm than getting further ingrained into the advertising machine and reliant on outside stimulus to feel ok.
